Technology has a lot to offer a classroom. However, misuse or overuse can influence how effective the tools are on student learning. Technology should support the teacher’s lesson; make the teacher’s life easier, engage students, assist student learning. I believe the best practices in technology integration does not take over the curriculum but is designed to enhance it, providing new ways for students to be creative, review information, practice, share, and present.

Technology is good for the classroom. It keeps class interesting and students involved. It can be a nice break from paper and pencil. Digital whiteboards, web tools, audio-visual technologies software such as Tutoring With Alphie, Mindplay, starfall.com gains student’s attention, help them visualize, perform group work, drill and practice.
Denee, I agree that technology keeps class interesting. I like to show youtube videos or book trailers as pre-reading. It's a quick way to engage the students. It seems that all students respond to a video whereas only some respond to the verbal accolades that I share about what we are about to read. It's good to have both... Andrea
ReplyDeleteI have to agree but I am finding the more I work with technology in the classroom I am seeing I important a plan B is. When the process of getting to the technology - log onto computers, find the right website, keep kids off of other websites, calibrate whiteboard so it works properly etc, takes away from the lesson it is frustrating. However when things work properly the results can be very satisfying!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Alphie from Success For All!!!!! The interactive videos are great for ESOL learners!
